Dream Big Or Go Nowhere....

As I watch reruns of the new CW series, The Carrie Diaries, I remember how much it's been a dream of mine to move to New York one day. It's the city where all your dreams can come true, no matter how extravagant or outrageous they are. Now let's turn back time to reminiscence in the HBO series, Sex and The City. Carrie Bradshaw and her friends took New York by storm as she tells her story that ultimately proves this was THE place to make your dreams come alive!

There's nothing that stops life from happening, people come and go, circumstances change, and you can go from high to low in a matter of seconds. But it's important to never lose sight of your dreams along the process.

Our dreams are what keep us going. Not to mention, keeps us real. Dreams and ambitions are like built-in motivators that light the path for us. Sometimes the light is just a dim flicker and it's hard to make out left or right. Others, its a spot light that you can't even hid from; not that you want to. It's like a calling. Your calling. And depending on how determined you are on making your dreams come true, you'll do whatever it takes!

Once Carrie Bradshaw said, "I'll find a way to do it!" Though I think she was referring to buying $400 shoes but you get the idea. If it really means that much to you, you owe it to yourself to do whatever it takes to achieve your heart's desire.

As I dwell in my funk, I seem to have lost sight of my dreams. Or at least I've lost the way. I know the destination by heart but it's how to get there that I'm a little confused about. It almost seems as if I'm going in circles. I'm not going backwards, thankfully, but I'm also not getting any closer. I mean, Seattle is 2,851 miles away from New York.

It takes being stuck in this situation for so long to help you realize how important it is to keep going. Believe me, it can feel like you're going nowhere at times. But it isn't the detours that one needs to worry about. After all, once one loops around a few times, they ultimately get back on route. Just don't get discouraged and give up on your dreams during this trail and error.

These's are your dreams! They are so worth it!

23's First Adventure

Opportunities are only given to those that will appreciate it. In life we are often given numerous opportunities. But remember that doesn't guarantee success.

We are only shown the path with each opportunity that presents itself. It's how we go about this path that determines success, or failure. Success?! Sounds pretty amazing right!

But what about failure? Failure, doesn't it just mean "the end"? Not to fret, in hindsight failure does mean the end; but not the end to it all. It means that your journey on this path has been completed. Whatever it was that you were meant to learn or experience on this adventure has been fulfilled. Depending on how long you've invested in this journey will determine how sad, upset, and frustrated you'll be. But don't be! I know, it'll be hard to do but rather than looking at it as a loss, take a different perspective. Look at the situation as a lesson and experience that you can take with you on your future endeavors. And who knows, it could be a opportunity in disguise. ;)

With all that said, I'll be venturing on my first opportunity for 2013! Coming from an average family, you're primary expectation is to find a good and secure job; everything else is secondary... At least for my family. Ha

After countless applications and cover letters, today I'll be heading off to Atlanta, Georgia for a very formal, not to mention, nerve-racking interview! As I sit on the benches waiting to board the plane, I just feel my stomach in knots. But as nervous as I am, I'm also really excited!

I'm so appreciative for this adventure and I know that in the end, no matter what the outcome will be, I gave it my all. I did everything I could and everything else is out of my hands. :)

Wish me luck!

2 Words, Endless Possibilities: L!fe Happens

It happens to all of us. There's no forecasting it, preventing it, or stopping it. It just happens. This thing, you ask?! The thing I'm referring to is life ... Now, since we can't forecast, prevent, or stop it, we can only accept it. Which I'm sure all of us are pretty familiar with.

In life, there are events that come up from time to time that can make us go through a whirlwind of emotions. Sometimes we're happy, others we're sad, and if we're lucky, the happiness will last a little longer.

5 of minutes mom!

For the past few months, I've been in a weird funk. Depressed, not so much ... maybe a little. It seems I've lost interest in a lot of things I used to be excited about. It gets harder and harder for me to actually want to get ready and leave the house. Some days, all I would want to do is stay in bed, watch t.v., and really comprehend everything that's happened.

Am I alright?

As life happens, circumstances change and sometimes I feel helpless. Don't get me wrong; I am a true believer in that everything happens for a reason. But that doesn't mean I can't be a little upset once in a while. Trying to wait out the storm, being patient, isn't always easy when things aren't necessarily going your way.

I am grateful that all my friends and family all seek to me for just about everything. Talking, venting, crying, laughing; all while drinking (wine always makes things better). Whatever you need, I'm there! In a way, I feel like I'm their garbage can. You dish it, I take it. And hopefully along the way, I can provide advice and words of wisdom to them. But sometimes I wonder ... where's mine?! Oh yeah! This blog is my venting can. :)
Safe to say Netflix has been a serious companion of mine for the past few months. Today, I stumbled upon a movie called L!fe Happens. Hence the title of this post ;]. It a movie about three girlfriends that live together. Dealing with relationships, focusing on their careers, and just having fun; sounds like the life of every 25 year old single gal. But ... Dun - dun - dunnn ... One of them gets pregnant and decides to keep it. However, they are definitely not going to let this minor interference steer them off their original course to conquer the world!

Not only was this a good movie but it really opened my small eyes a bit. Things happen and you just have to adjust to it. They may not be a part of your original plan but you still have to keep going. And you better believe that life will go on, with or without your approval. Adjusting your plans isn't necessarily a bad thing. You never know, it could be a new opportunity in disguise. Besides, you need a little hardship to appreciate the good; it keeps life interesting to say the least.

Just remember, things are going to happen. They are going to make us happy, sad, crazy, mad, and ecstatic. But that's life! Embrace each and every day. Things really do happen for reason. You may not see the lesson that you're supposed to learn at first, but believe me, things will ultimately make sense in the end.

Happy Birthday to My Baby Sister!

I remember when she was 3. Just came back from Taiwan, unfamiliar to her surroundings and unfamiliar to us. Haha

No, it's not what you think. Like me, she was raised by my grandma in Taiwan. Once we felt it was time, she had to return back to states and her parents.

Fast forward to today, she is turning 14 .. Sheesh, where has the time gone?!

Regardless, I'm so proud of the girl she is shaping to be. We may argue, fight, and not agree on several things, but we are always going to be sisters. No matter what we may argue about, nothing, will ever change that.

Happy birthday to my favorite sister, bot to mention my only sister ;] I love you!

Conquered Mt. Si!

Sunny weather is hard to come by, when you live in Seattle. But that's what makes us Seattleites appreciate it more.

I mean, come on, you need a little rain to appreciate the sunshine; right?!

So on this mighty fine & sunny day, my good friend, Katy, and I decide to climb Mt. Si!

The view was just as gorgeous as the day, if not better. Mind you, this was a 4 mile hike up and consequently 4 miles down. 8 miles!!

I'm not going to lie, there was one point, or two, maybe three, where we wanted to give up. But whenever that idea popped in our minds, the folks coming down would guilt us by saying 'it is totally worth it!' Not fair: you're going the opposite and much more appealing direction.

But after hearing that, you're only option is to continue on this fun hike. Boy, are we happy we did. Yes, the journey up was a tough one. Especially for two out of shape girls! But it was totally worth it and I would recommend all those are the area to give it a chance. You won't regret it!
